These delicious cake doughnuts are so simple to make. They’re soft, tender and you can whip them up in 15 minutes or less.
- All-purpose flour – 3 cups
- Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder – 3 teaspoons
- Nutmeg – 1 teaspoon
- Egg – 1
- Sugar – 1/3 cup
- Oil or melted butter – 3 tablespoons
- Milk – 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons
TOPPING, Optional
- Sugar – 3 – 4 tablespoons
- Cinnamon – 1 to 2 teaspoons
PROCEDURE
Step 1
Measure out the flour into a bowl.
Step 2
Add the salt and baking powder.
Step 3
Grate in the nutmeg and mix to combine. If you don’t have access to nutmeg, you could use 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence.
Step 4
Add one large egg.
Step 5
Add the oil or melted butter and sugar. You could use half oil and half butter. Melted and cooled.
Step 6
Add the milk and mix to combine.
Step 7
Form into a ball.
Step 8
Meanwhile, heat up some vegetable or canola oil for deep frying.
Step 9
Gently knead the dough for a few seconds until it comes together. You don’t want to over-knead.
Step 10
Roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Step 11
Cut the dough with a doughnut cutter or a circular object and a bottle cap.
Step 12
Gently drop doughnuts into the hot oil.
Step 13
Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side.
Step 14
Remove from oil and transfer to a kitchen paper-lined tray to soak up excess oil.
Step 15
Fry the doughnut holes too.
Step 16
Mix together 3 to 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Roll the doughnuts in the sugar mixture and serve. This part is totally optional.

Yes, it can. You can add 2 tablespoons of yoghurt.
You didn’t add yeast will it rise without yeast
It’s a cake doughnut. You only need baking powder.
