INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup powdered milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup water

PROCEDURE

Step 1

Mix together the flour, sugar, powdered milk, baking powder and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Add the margarine, using the tip of your fingers, rub flour and margarine together till mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Now add the egg and pour in the water, a little at a time and mix until a dough is formed.

Step 3

lightly knead until smooth and a little stretchy. Cover dough and allow to rest for about 10 minutes.

Step 4

Dust your work surface with a little bit of flour. Roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.

Step 5

Heat up oil in a saucepan over medium heat. When hot. Fry the cut up doughs in batches while stirring occasionally until just a little bit golden, (they brown more as they cool).

Step 6

Using a slotted spoon, take out chin chin and place on paper towels to soak up excess oil.

Step 7

Cool completely and store in an airtight jar.
