Delicious fried fish in a tasty pepper sauce. This recipe is divine, really easy to make and you can use your favourite kind of fish.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 medium-sized fish
- 6 big tomatoes
- 5 tatashe – Red bell pepper
- 4 atarodo or to taste – habanero
- 1 big onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon, garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- Stock cubes to taste
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
PROCEDURE
Step 1
Cut, gut, and wash the fish. Season with the stock cube, salt, and half garlic powder. Marinate for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Transfer the tatashe, atarodo, tomatoes, garlic, onion and a little bit of water and blend until smooth. Heat up oil in a pot over medium heat, add the sliced onion and fry until translucent.
Step 3
Add the pepper mix and cook for about 10 minutes.
Step 4
Meanwhile heat up oil in a pan over medium-high heat, when hot add the fish and fry until the bottom is golden.
Step 5
Flip and fry until it’s golden all over, remove from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up excess oil.
Step 6
Now add the allspice, curry powder, thyme, salt, and seasoning cube to taste and allow to cook some more.
Step 7
When the stew is considerably thick add the fish, taste, and adjust seasoning if necessary and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes.
