Egg rolls

This is made by wrapping hard-boiled eggs in a tasty dough then deep-fried. It is really simple to make and gets ready in no time.

INGREDIENTS

  • Flour – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 3 tablespoons
  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Margarine – 2 tablespoon
  • Egg – 1
  • Lukewarm water – 1/2 cup
  • Boiled eggs – 5
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying

In a sizeable bowl, pour the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Grate in the nutmeg and mix to combine.

Add the butter and rub it in using the tips of your fingers.

Add the egg, mix it until the mixture resembles large bread crumbs.

Add the lukewarm water, a little time, and mix until well combined.

Cover with a kitchen towel and set aside.

Boil the eggs, peel, and set aside to cool.

When cool the eggs are cool, Heat up some oil on medium heat for deep frying.

Scoop a little dough onto your floured palms. Flatten it… be feel to coat with a bit of flour if it is to sticky.

Coat an egg with flour and place in the middle of the dough. Wrap it up and shape into a ball.

Drop into the hot oil and repeat the process.

Be sure to move the egg rolls around the hot oil so it cooks through.

Take them out from the oil and drain on paper towel to soak up excess oil

Serve hot or cold.

Note: The oil should not be too hot or the dough won’t cook through.
