Zobo – Hibiscus Tea

Zobo is a bright red coloured drink made from dried hibiscus flowers, it’s quite easy to make, tasty and refreshing.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 packed cups zobo leaves – hibiscus flower
  • 1 medium pineapple, peeled & cubed
  • 1 heaped tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • Thumb size ginger
  • 10 cups water
  • Sugar to taste

PROCEDURE

Step 1

Get your ingredients ready.

Step 2

Rinse the Zobo leaves properly making sure to get rid of dust and sand. Transfer to a pot and add 10 cups of water.

Step 3

Add the pineapple, cloves and cinnamon powder. Stir, cover and allow to boil on medium heat.

Step 4

For about 40 minutes.

Step 5

Pour the contents into a bowl and allow to cool till warm.

Step 6

Sieve the drink. Take out the ginger and pineapples, transfer into a blender and blend until smooth then pass through a sieve and mix with the zobo, optional. Add sugar to taste and allow to cool completely.

Step 7

Bottle and refrigerate until cool. Enjoy!
