These chocolate cupcakes are soft and fluffy, chocolatey, and incredibly delicious. They’re so simple to make and you can whip them up in minutes for whenever you’re craving some chocolate goodness.
INGREDIENTS
- All-purpose flour – 1 & 1/4 cups
- Sugar – 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons
- Unsweetened cocoa powder – 1/2 cup
- Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
- Baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
- Warm water – 1/2 cup
- Milk or buttermilk – 1/2 cup
- Vegetable oil – 1/3 cup
- Egg – 1, large
- Vanilla essence – 2 teaspoons
PROCEDURE
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350° F.
Grease a cupcake tray with butter or oil spray. Or line with cupcake liners.
Step 2
Add about 1/2 teaspoon each of cocoa powder to each cupcake hole. Rotate the pan and tap out the excess. Set aside.
Ignore this step if using cupcake liners.
Step 3
Measure out the flour and sugar into a bowl.
Step 4
Add the cocoa powder.
Step 5
Add the baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Step 6
Mix well to combine.
Step 7
Add the warm water. You can substitute for warm coffee.
Step 8
Add the milk or buttermilk.
Step 9
Add the vegetable oil. You can use any cooking oil of choice aside from olive oil.
Step 10
Mix well just until it’s well combined. Do not over mix.
Step 11
Fill about 3/4 way full. Bake in a preheated 350° F oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
Step 12
Remove from the oven and cool on a rack.
Step 13
Store leftover cupcakes in an airtight container to keep it moist.
