Homemade Pizza Recipe From Scratch

This homemade pizza recipe is so delicious. The sauce is flavourful, the crust is crisp and chewy and it’s extremely easy to make. Follow the step-by-step procedure, and you’ll be able to whip up pizza at any time from the comfort of your home.

INGREDIENTS

PIZZA SAUCE

  • Tomatoes – 8 to 10 small pieces
  • Olive oil – 3 tablespoons
  • Grated garlic – 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oregano – 1 teaspoon
  • Thyme – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – to taste

PIZZA DOUGH

  • Lukewarm water – 1 & 1/4 cups
  • Dried yeast – 2 teaspoons
  • Sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • All-purpose flour – 3 cups to 3 & 1/2 cups
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons

TOPPINGS

  • Cheese – Mozzarella/Cheddar
  • Pizza sauce
  • Cooked chicken
  • Onion
  • Sweet peppers

Use toppings of choice and use as much or little as you like.

PROCEDURE

Step 1

Peel the tomatoes. To do that, Use a knife to score an X on the bottom of the tomatoes. Pour boiling water over it and let it sit for about 1 minute.

Drain the tomatoes and pour them into a bowl of cold water. Peel off the skin with your hand or a knife.

Step 2

Crush the tomatoes to desired consistency. You can use a food processor or blender. Do not add water.

Step 3

Heat up 3 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the grated garlic and fry until slightly golden.

Step 5

Add the crushed tomatoes.

Step 6

Add the black pepper, oregano, thyme, and some salt to taste. Cook until reduced.

You can add some pepper flakes for some heat.

Step 7

Transfer to a bowl to cool, then set aside.

You can mix in some barbecue sauce or tomato ketchup.

Step 8

Pour 1/4 cup of lukewarm water into your mixing bowl. Add the yeast and the sugar. Mix to combine and leave until it’s frothy, about 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 9

Now, add the flour.

Step 10

Add the salt and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Step 11

Add 1 cup of lukewarm water and mix to form a dough.

Step 12

Knead until it’s smooth.

Step 13

Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl. Cover and place in a warm spot until it doubles in size. About 1 hour 30 minutes.

Step 14

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.

Lightly grease your pan with olive oil or dust with some semolina.

Step 15

Deflate the dough and divide it into 2 pieces.

This dough would make two 12 to 14-inch pizzas.

Step 16

Put one-half of the dough in the pan.

Flatten with your hands.

You can also use a rolling pin. Dust your work surface with some semolina or flour and roll it into a 12 or 14-inch circle.

Step 18

Lightly brush the top with some olive oil and spread some pizza sauce on it.

Step 19

Add some cheese. You can add as much as you like. I used Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese.

Use your favourite cheese. My favourite for pizza is Mozzarella.

Step 20

Add some cooked chicken and veggies. You can use any topping of your choice. Beef, pepperoni, corn, spinach, etc.

Bake in a preheated 450 F oven for 12 minutes.

Step 21

Remove from the oven slice and enjoy!
