A quick and easy bread that’s perfect for whenever you are craving some bread. It’s soft and chewy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside, and so delicious.

INGREDIENTS

  • All-purpose flour – 3 cups
  • Baking powder – 3 teaspoons
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Oil – for deep frying

PROCEDURE

Step 1

Measure out the flour into a mixing bowl.

Add the baking powder and salt, and mix to combine.

Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil or your preferred oil and mix it in.

Add one cup of water, mix it in and gently bring the dough together.

Gently knead the dough until it’s fairly smooth.

Transfer into a bowl, cover, and let it rest for about 20 minutes.

Divide the dough into 8 pieces.

Coat the dough with some oil. This is to stop it from being sticky and to make it crispy. Roll it out to about a 4 to 5-inch circle. It doesn’t have to be a perfect round.

Use a knife or a pizza cutter to make two slits.

Heat up some oil for deep frying.

Gently drop the dough into the hot oil.

As soon as it floats to the top, press it below the oil surface for a few seconds.

Fry until it’s golden on both sides.

Remove from the oil and transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate to soak up excess oil on both sides.

Serve as is or with a dipping sauce/stew or just tea.
