INGREDIENTS NEEDED

PROCEDURE

Step 1

Pour the lukewarm water into the bowl of your stand mixer. Add the yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar, and mix to combine. Cover and let it loom for 5 to 10 minutes

Step 2

After the yeast has bloomed, add the rest of the ingredients

Step 3

Knead for 8 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

You can also do this by hand, if you do not have a mixer. Mix all the ingredients, then knead by hand until the dough is smooth. It could take you longer to achieve the result, depending on your skill level

Step 4

Shape the dough into a ball, then transfer into an oiled bowl. This is to prevent the dough from sticking to the bowl

Step 5

Cover and place in a warm spot for 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes. The time needed for the dough to double in size, is dependent on how warm your kitchen is

Step 6

After the dough is risen, deflate and shape into a log

Step 7

Transfer unto a lined tray. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour

Step 8

Towards the end of the rising period, Preheat your oven to 180°C

Step 9

Uncover the dough, and transfer into the preheated oven for approximately 25 minutes

Step 10

Remove bread from the oven, and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely, before slicing
