Nigerian buns are one of those irresistible street snacks that instantly bring back memories of home. Whether you’re enjoying them fresh and hot or cold. Nigerian buns are a total crowd-pleaser that never goes out of style. Perfect with a chilled drink or a cup of tea or coffee!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED

  • Plain flour/all purpose flour – 4 cups
  • Baking powder – 4 teaspoons
  • Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Powder milk – 1/2 cup
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Oil – 1/4 cup
  • Eggs – 4
  • Lukewarm water – 1 cup

PROCEDURE

In a clean bowl, add the flour, sugar, powdered milk, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to combine

Add the melted butter or oil, and the eggs

Add the lukewarm water, and mix well to combine, be careful not to over mix

Cover with a kitchen napkin or plate, and let it rest for approximately 10 minutes

Heat up some oil for deep fring

To test if the oil is hot enough, drop a teaspoon of batter into it. If the batter flows to the top, the oil is ready. If it browns too quickly, the oil is too hot; in this case, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool for about a minute

Once the oil is at the correct temperature, use a rounded tablespoon, an ice cream scoop, or your hand to drop the batter into the hot oil

Fry until the bottom is golden brown, then turn the balls over and continue frying until they are golden brown all over

Using a slotted spoon, remove the buns and place it on paper napkins to absorb excess oil. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Using a slotted spoon, take out the buns and place on paper napkins or paper towel lined plate to soak up any excess oil.

Continue the process till you use up all the batter
